New and improved Taranaki REOC a hit

The Taranaki CCNZ Branch delivered its first Regional Excavator Operator Competition in seven years on 11 November.

Ably led by branch Life Member Ross ‘Possum’ McEwen, a team of members and sponsors set up the REOC course on a site owned by contractor member Offshore Plumbing Services.

There were ten competitors and all of them showed some very good operating skills as well as good knowledge of health and safety procedures.

The event was planned to be ‘low key’ in order to get it right for a much larger event next year. Despite that, over 250 people visited the event, and from all accounts thoroughly enjoyed what they saw.

It was great to see the new Hitachi machines going about their work with all of the competitors giving some positive feedback. Many thanks to CablePrice for once again stepping up. Also thanks to Hirepool, Humes, Whitaker Civil, Oil Intel (Total Oil) and OPS Offshore Plumbing and Pipeline for their products and services.
